Like everything else in the media these days, there is a huge overreaction in regards to automation. Humans have been automating for over 200 years and this entire time there has been a fear of the machines taking jobs. Well for every job that is taken by a machine, a new job is created. Most of the jobs today didn't even exist 30, 40, 50 years ago. Automation (aka industrialisation) has brought billions of people out of poverty. I for one am not worried. Everybody will have their own robot slaves in the future. If anything were looking at an Idiocracy situation. We're already half way there with Trump.

The thing is, for the last 200 years, we have automated tasks humans perform that are menial, that are 'below us'.
Now, we are talking about very soon, having hardware and software that can perform the tasks we had to do because the machines couldn't do them. The next step is machines doing the things we can't do based on our lacking mental abilities in comparison.
After that, they figure out new ways to perform all included tasks to increase efficiency and remove us from their equation all together, I'm not talking Terminator status, but realistically, in 15 years, the idea of a workforce will not be a corporation filling the bleachers of a stadium, but a small conference room with few low wage parts installers that make side money swapping modules on corporate equipment.

Machines already do things that we cant do based on our lack of mental ability, thats almost the entire purpose of computers, and the bigger picture being supercomputers to crunch numbers we cant do. Or try hundreds upon thousands of different things to solve problems.1989 BMW 325is | 2019 Ford Ranger FX4willschnitz

The trend of automation has been a good one. People being lifted out of poverty, living longer, having access to an abundance of resources and having more and more free time. This trend will continue.Last edited by LBJefferies; 01-23-2017, 09:38 PM.
