I would have to say that most of you are fucking idiots. Have you ever seen a test video of someone being tazed? Most people cant stand up after that and much less walk... If you really need to, taze the guy once, cuff his ass and drag him out of there. There was no need for multiple tazings in this situation. They were just being stupid fucking retard power tripping cops. Get a clue.... It really makes me sad that I live in a country were this kind of shit can happen and stupid fucking people actually try to justify it. People like you are why we have a total fucking idiot running our country right now... Fucking idiots. We should have let the south split off back in the civil war. Then I wouldn't have to live in a country where I have to see this bullshit. Except the south probably would have nuked the north by now if we did that... thats just the way it is. Idiots.

If you aren't following the rules don't resist the punishment or the punishment gets worse.
    End of discussion.

Clarify? You mean a US federal agent was sentenced for the death of a druglord? Rediculous...

As far as the student who got tazed, it was obvious that he was resisting the police, and for some reason felt that the student body would come to his rescue. I'm sure the rest of the students were willing to rush the officers...officers did what they had to do to put the situation under control, case closed.

Looks like everyone overreacted....suspect, cops, and bystanders.

Here's the UCLA Tazer policy, http://www.ucpd.ucla.edu/ucpd/zippdf...r_Policies.pdf

According to #5, the dude got what he was asking for.

Besides, it's just a lil' electricity, what's the fuss. The dude was crying like they were cutting his nuts off or something.

I will ask you to look at the bigger picture: these terrorist assholes are using computers/internet to communicate and plan other attacks. or even send an email or signal to another machine programmed to detonate a bomb. would you have a problem with them using the computer then? Now, I'm not saying this guy was a terrorist and it's unfortunate that the Muslim community is catching all kinds of hell right now which draws a lot of media attention. Here's the bottom line: This guy broke the rules, got belligerent, incited a riot, and got exactly what the situation warranted. Those officers had to act quickly to deescalate the situation before things got out of hand.

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

a lot of university departments have their own tact teams (sniper, entry units, etc..).

As far as what I would have done if I was the officer, Damn. That's an even harder question. Probably would've called my superior saying there's a possible threat. Let someone else take care of it.

Now I dont know the rules about tazing or guidelines that should be followed in certain situations that warrant a taze, but I figure it would be to someone who's physically threatening/insubordinate to the officers, but if they repeatidly say to stand up and show ID and the order is ignored, then to be honest I dont know what I would do. Probably just call in my superior.

But I think you'd have the officer's pride get in the way. Everybody is standing around the library while the officers repeatidly tell this guy to stand up and simply show ID. If he doesn't have it, that's one thing. Be honest to them and you can look up ID at the next computer POD. For him to start screaming in public making the officers look stupid probably gave the officers no choice but to uphold their authoritative figure and do what they thought was necessary to put him back in line. I'm not saying it's right. At the risk of losing the respect that should come with being an officer, it was a blow at the officer's pride and they had to do something to show that, "you don't fuck with us".

I was talking about how would you have handles the situation as the officers...

Not discounting your answer at all though. It is tough to say why he did what he did, but I think walking out in cuffs or being escorted out by the police is enough. When you start directly disrespecting and disobeying the police you are in trouble. They don't mess around with anybody.

That's a hard question to answer because i am not middle eastern, so i dont personally know how they are treated. I'm sure that kid was sick and tired of the stereotyping. The question is, would the officers do that to a normal, white caucasian that they saw in the library?
In hindsight, if I knew that it would come to tazing for insubordination, i would've cooperated, and i'd like to say that he would have also, but after he get tazed several times, it didn't sink in. Either that or he was trying to make a point, which I think he got across.
