Hey man, good luck with the project, sounds interesting. Don't take offense to Franks comments, he didn't mean them in a bad way. There's a lot of people that come along and ask for photoshop jobs of some custom stuff that may take 30+ mins, and they are so technically incapable, they couldn't even change their own oil - so it's a complete waste for whoever did it. I think what he was trying to say is you may have had a hard time finding someone who took you serious enough in doing this project to spend time on a photoshop. But you sound like you know your shit - so no worries, someone will hook ya up. There is great technical info on this board, and a lot of useless stupid stuff including bickering between members for no reason, most of the time in good fun. Stick around, there's tons of good info - and we could use your input, I'm sure.

I think it would be cool if you did headlights behind the grille that were semi-visible from the front, even when they were off. Not sure how that would work, but in my head it works out nicely, haha.

not quite what I imagined, can you remove the kidneys? It would probably look better on a plastic bumper car like mine I think. IMHO, with the kidney it's not a good look, we'll see w/out...

I was thinking the same thing as I was working on it. Its almost like you can "see" the lights behind the grill. I don't know if that's my imagination or something that PShop did inadvertantly.

Jgood, thanks! I know, there is TONS of good info here, and I'll give all the help I can as long as I'm confident my input will actually help. I thought of just having the lights behind the grill, but I dunno how well they would actually work at night...would be the easiest way to do it though!

Ok. Here is the car with the kidneys gone.. its not perfect but it gives you some idea of the final result.

                      That is bizzarre.

Added bonus: The center part of the sills of the grill jump one level when going from the left to right sides. It reminds me of drawings of the extra half plane adjacent to a dislocation loop in a crystal.

True indeed. But I didn't put a lot of time into it because this is not a contest. The guy just wanted to see what it would look like.

Don't get me wrong, it is totally better than I could do (and I still think it looks bizarre). The extra plane is actually a bonus for me. I teach this stuff (mechanisms that allow minerals deform under load) and now have a way to bring an e30 into a lecture. The only way it would be better is if the extra plane was not at the base of the grill, but in the center of the grill. However, the image as it is now is excellent.

Are you going to make it look like the 67-68 RS camaros?

Or like the 69's where you can see the headlights behind the doors?

May not be for everyone, but I think I'm going to put it next on my list. I think I'll try the 'behind the grill' style. throw in a iS lip & splitter and I think it'll look something fierce. Thanks for the Pshop work, big help seeing it first. I'll post up some pics when I get started.

67-68 look is what I want. Actually, I'm going to try and recess the lights and have the grill go the entire length of the front end. Hopefully I'll get enough light through the grill to see at night.
