hey have you done a yarn test with video or pics? that would go a long way to showing the flow effect of what ever your calling those things

I think he owned himself by telling us that his aero testing is done by driving next to his car on the highway. Yarn and a couple of fixed mount cameras and I would be impressed but saying that just having one canard makes the car pull means absolutely dick. You could have your friend mooning out one window and if he (or she, this is a modern world) was fat enough you'd probably have the same effect...

I don't think that the drag effect is totally useless just some more work needs to be done to show that it is having the intend effect

also get a manometer and take a pressure reading on the splitter and canard, that will show just how much front down force you are make PxA style i'm sure you know that though

This stuff is still about 90% black magic and 10% science.

Downforce is only useful in corners. For a fast track with lots of sweeping corners, downforce is obviously more important. For something like AutoX, not so much. The corners are generally too slow for small aero devices to help much (unless done in concert with other aero mods).

Under braking, yes, something like this could help. But it also makes braking more difficult to do consistently because as you slow, downforce goes away and you have to modulate more.

If these canards are helping at all, then I would suspect it is more that it is keeping more airflow out of the tire wells where it can stagnate and cause turbulence. A better mod would be vents over the top of the fenders. Again, it's all relative though. E30's don't make enough speed to be helped a lot by these smaller aero devices.

The splitter, and more importantly, the controlled airflow under the front of the car is going to be 99% more effective than just about anything else you can do on the front of the car. Of course, even that isn't much good unless the airflow is controlled as it exits from under the car.

It's you car. Have fun with it. What the heck right?

reducing tire well and wheel turbulence is my interest in them I do a lot of long freeway hauls and i'm trying some things out for shits and giggle to try and reduce drag and increase down force at the same time. I like learn how things really work.

personally, i would make a rear cover. id rather not cut into my poor e30. would be easier to vent the rear end.

if your not looking to impress with the looks, cut the rear section between the 'tubs' out.
