Some regions have "N" for novice... basically you can be in a Stock class and NOVICE... but you can't be in a Modified or Prepared class as Novice...something like that.
So i went autocrossing this weekend...

It was SCCA rulebook, and the tech was very simple. i could have done a swap on it and they wouldnt have noticed. All i had to do was get numbers and strap my battery down. THey j ust have you pop the hood and trunk and then the guy wants to feel your brake pedel.[ofcourse this all changes from place to place.] thats it xD the "N" was indeed for novice. Later in the day you get the chance to switch to G stock and i changed the n to gs. But I sadly doubt I'll be building any track car for a long time. Money's tight atm.

Tech is different from one place to another...and it's not even worth trying to cheat :)Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

It's your competitors that will bust you, not the tech people. If they warn you, they are trying to help you out!'89 325i track sloot

+1. Tech is to ensure safety. It's up to you to classify your car, though in most cases people will help. And again, that big ol' N will get you some slack.Comment

You're not kidding. I've finally come full circle, from tracking my DD to buying an E30 to convert into a dedicated track car to using my current E30 for fun weekend drives and track fun. There's something to be said for roll up windows and heat/A/C when you're not trying to be remotely competitive. :DComment

I've got an S50 powered E30 convertible that I use as my weekend cruiser and autocrosser and I co-own a turbo M42 powered E30 club race car. You're not kidding. Very cool builds, especially the M42T...looks a lot like my old red car, but turned up a notch.
As for a weekend/cruiser, I'd think the car that originally hosted the S50 would be a better all-arounder when comfort and refinement are considered, but that's just me. Cool car nonetheless.Comment

I had a 95 M3. It was a great car but it's fun being faster than many M3s at an autocross in a convertible E30 with a full interior and a roll bar. Talk about a weight disadvantage.Very cool builds, especially the M42T...looks a lot like my old red car, but turned up a notch.

I have a friend who currently owns one of those[95 m3] It's a beastly car. But nothing looks better then a e30.

Moreso (to me) were the 2 Douglas DC-3's I spotted.... dosen;t look like they moved in some time tho. Looks to be an airstrip? What is the name of it?~Rick | 1990 325iC ~Noelle - Her build/cleanup thread http://r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=179507Comment

Glad you had a good time. There's nothing wrong with racing in Novice your first time, everyone should, some do for longer. I did my 1st time.
Just an FYI, with lowering springs you're not in G Stock. If you have an LSD, you should be in STX or DSP. Non-LSD (or IX) can race in STS.| Jimmy | 1999 M3 | 1986 325 ES |Comment

All i know is there big book said the 91 318is was gs and i told them i had those shocks, and they just gave me a gs sticker :/ later i went and read the rule book, and i guess they allow small amounts of suspension work.Just an FYI, with lowering springs you're not in G Stock.
