    Race car defroster

The dash bar of a roll cage pretty much disables the stock defroster. RainX, a rag on a stick, etc., isn't a very satisfactory substitute in my opinion. I made up a replacement for my new Spec E30 that won't work quite as good as the stock system, but it should be better than the alternatives.

    Nice work!

Just in time too, as I'm just about to build my rally car. This will come in handy.

If you have them, could you post a few shots (or PM me) of other completed E30 racing dash shots? I'm trying to figure out where to put things. Because it's a rally car, it has to pass state inspection, so it must retain directionals, high beam switches, horns, etc.

    Again, nice work!

I'll post a picture of the interior when I reinstall the dash, the gages, and switches. My car is still pretty much street legal. It has headlights, turn signals, wipers. It doesn't have a horn, but that can easily be done.

We solved the problem on my car by cutting a hole in the HVAC housing, and sliding the knee-bar through it before welding it in. Worked in my car, as the knee bar went through about where the A/C condenser was. Heater's still in place, but we tossed the stock plumbing and fabbed a manual valve in the engine bay.

It was worth the effort, as we race in the rain a lot up here in the NW.

There was just a thread about 2 weeks ago on BFC about this, They had some pretty good ideas.

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.
