    AMB transponder install

Where are you guys installing your transponders, and what are you tapping into for power?

I'm thinking drivers side frame rail.

I'm not sure what is or isn't safe for wiring. The transponder is only a .04 amp draw so I'm guessing I can tap into any switched power. I don't have a master kill switch, and the rest of the cars wiring is pretty much stock.

Would the main relay be OK? I have my electric fan relay hooked up to that (not the fan itself, just the power for the relay, the fan power comes from the battery).

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid a vulnerable location like that. Since it's TT, the forward location shouldn't matter. This is a budget build, this transponder cost 60% of what I paid for the car :)

                          I don't think that is an M3...

It looks a little like an E30 M3 but it isn't.

It started life as a 325i. We pulled the M20 in favor of a turbo M42.

The car has Eurostop USA E30 Evo R Widebody Kit with a the E46 M3 style front bumper.

We went with the widebody kit to provide better clearance for our rear tires (245's on 17x9 wheels).

FWIW, my transponder was crushed after I was punted into a wall during a club race; it was mounted inside the front bumper cover by the previous owner of my M3. Definitely $400 I would rather not have spent.
