whoa, good thing i stumbled into this thread. I almost bought some euroweaves. I can wait a few more months for these!
Best 15 in lightweight? Kosei K1 vs TrMotorsports C1

Have you read any of the thread? Nobody knows what they look like yet.
I think the current 6ULs look like shit, without the lip afforded by the width they're available in, they would be even worse. Bulging spokes, even if functional (for caliper clearance) just are not attractive in any situation, the SSR GT2 and Competitions being the only exception I've noticed. The C1 is okay, I'm not a huge fan but I'd consider it, they're concave at least. The C3M? Fuck yeah, looks awesome. The bottom line here, though, is that both TRM and 949 are releasing reasonably priced, viable wide 15"ers for the E30 platform and they should both be praised for it. Imagine if we had 10 different wheels to choose from in 15x8 or 15x9 at $100 apiece.Sometime in the next year I'll be in the market to purchase a set of wide 15s and I'll definitely be going to one of those vendors, depending on how attractive the new 6ULs are. I can't wait to see some C3Ms mounted on an E30.I will be looking into these different sets in the next couple of months when I buy an e30 for a DD.
The 6ULs aren't all that bad looking IMO. The new TRMotorsport wheels look the best IMO. And the originals are pretty sick too.
The Team Dynamics never appealed to me since they run so narrow.
Re: the width, I am totally with you there. 8" of width is my minimum for aftermarket wheels, and no I'm not going to be stretching any tire. :p It's great to see some vendors releasing something wider than the typical 15x7 you see everywhere.
I think if you space the C3Ms out they will have a decent chance of clearing. After all, they don't have the same bulging spoke design as the LTW5 but they do have another inch of front spacing over the LTW5s if you space them out to the same offset, and probably more since you'll most likely have to space them out a little further to clear the strut.
Word on the skreets is that tire choice in 225/x/R15 will improve soon, but the tires I've got my eye on are a little less street friendly than the RS3. ;)Last edited by Wh33lhop; 03-18-2010, 10:25 PM.Leave a comment:

I really like that C3M... 15x9 and recommends running 225.45.15 so R Comps or the RS3 Hankook. I am going to want a 15" wheel that clears UUCs brake kit for the track.Leave a comment:

Where did I mention that I know how the 6UL XTR looks? I said the old one looks like shit, and hopefully the new one looks better.Have you seen them? I have not even seen a redering yet. This is a different design then the normal 6ul. They are 10 spoke so maybe they will look like the C3M's. I'm sure the weight is from the extra meat of the hub area to make it a lower offset. But 15x9 sounds like a sweet setupLeave a comment:

I know, it's interesting they were able to get that so light! If you look on TireRack the 15x8s vary by as much as 1/2lb depending on the finish you get, to me that seems really weird.
Meh, it's just that big chunk of hub has to stick out alot farther.
Bastard and your ix fitment!Leave a comment:

but the 9" is only a tiny bit heavier
interesting that the low offset wheels weigh so much? Lucky for me the miata offset wheels are a perfect fit.Leave a comment:

I was saying studs/spacers for the current 6UL wheel, that in 15x8 is just over 12lbs, not 15+. That's a 12lb increase in rotating weight.Leave a comment:

The TRM doesn't need studs and spacers, it's the same offset and size in 15x8, right?
I think right now the TRM 15x8 is the best choice, though I wish koseis were more readily available.Leave a comment:

That 15x8 is even heavier than the TRM wheel, and it's 3 lbs heavier than their Miata offset wheel.anyone have some pics of the new 6UL XTR wheels. They sound perfect.
XTR coming Summer 2010 - Low cost gravity cast, 10 spoke design, silver or black
Yes these are for real
15x7 +25, +40 4x100, 4x114.3, 5x100, 5x114.3 13 lbs $89
15x8 +20, +36 4x100, 4x114.3, 5x100, 5x114.3 14.6- 15.2 lbs $99
15x9 +20, +36 4x100, 4x114.3, 5x100, 5x114.3 15 -15.4 lbs $109
Not really sure what the point is, I'd rather pay for studs/spacers than pay the same $$$ for a wheel that is heavier (than the TRM).Leave a comment:
