R888 are ever faithful, thats what we run in PRO 3 for the most part and the best wheel for you money is TEAM DYNAMICS 15x7. An all around epic combo.Comment

My friend's relatively stock E36 M3 (well, suspension and boltons) just beat out a bunch of 911TTs, Boxsters, Miatas, Evos all on r-comps, and the chrome "million dollar cobra" in an autox using some Kumho XS. He also happens to be a kickass driver, but it wouldn't have been possible without some great tires.paint sucksComment

probably just a way better driver. No way oval cum-hoe tires are better than an autox R-comp. :pComment

Grassroots motorsports recently did a comparison test between Kumho XS and V710 on the same car. The 710 was about 2 seconds faster around a 30 second course...My friend's relatively stock E36 M3 (well, suspension and boltons) just beat out a bunch of 911TTs, Boxsters, Miatas, Evos all on r-comps, and the chrome "million dollar cobra" in an autox using some Kumho XS. I should have further clarified; when I said r-comps, I meant R888s, A048s etc, not slicks. One regular in a dedicated Boxster auto-x car that normally mobs Hoosiers and mops the floor with everyone had some A048s this time and got taken by a good 5 seconds on a 50-second course.
I should also note that it was a very tight course, most of it was 20-40mph.paint sucksComment

I run 205/50/15 XS's on a 7", and I love them. They stick like R-compounds, and a lot of the guys at the office run with them, too. I don't think they're that bad in the wet, but I live in Florida so I'm used to water. I much prefer them to the S-Drives on dad's E30 M3. IMHO, they suck.Comment

I just ran my first autoX last weekend on BFG GForceSports 205/50/15 X 6", standard offset. pretty much completely stock suspension shitty old m42 318i. I didn't do too bad... coulda done much better, but we only got 4 runs in our heat,...
if your considering tires just for autox, remember that your only running 35-45 seconds, then park for 5 minutes, and repeat that only 3-4 times and that's it. So if your gonna get tires that need to heat up before they grip, your wasting your money and time, it's not like a track day where you get to do laps.
even the GforceSports like to be heated up before they really start gripping, so i ran 40psi to warm them up faster, and just stuck with it, probably will run an even higher tire pressure next time.Comment

it's probably because of the low speeds, R888s and similar tires wouldn't have a chance to warm up.I should have further clarified; when I said r-comps, I meant R888s, A048s etc, not slicks. I really, really want my Hoosiers back. lolComment
