go ahead and try it and see. or just remove the belt for a couple runs.

it might be okay on 195 or 205 street tires, but switch up to some sticky, wide r-comps on a tight course and I bet you'll want it back.

We run a 275/35/15 tire on a 15x10 wheel on our challenge car with out PS and it is not difficult at all to turn the wheel once you are moving.

i've got stock tires on stock weaves. driving a car without a belt is much harder then driving a car without powersteering. i'm gona go ahead and do it. its easy enough to go back to ps if i don't like it

yeah but it's probably stripped to the bone, right?

although I suppose a lot of the ricers here are running gutted cars with no PS on the street, too. :p

PS is definitely worth having on an autox course imho, unless your car is completely stripped. It is a lot easier to be precise with rapid steering inputs when you don't have to use as much force.

I had my ps belt off for a while before I did the delete kit on my track car. Wanted to make sure I would be cool driving without it for enduro racing. Stock rims, Azeni RT615 tires. Did a few auto-x runs with both configurations. Steering with the delete kit made it a little easier than with just an unhooked pump, but it still takes a little umph for things like parallel parking...which isn't really done much enduro racing, but you get the point.

While "driving in anger", I definitely prefer the feel of the steering now that the pump is gone. Even more than that, it clears up a lot of space in your engine bay and makes accessing things like fuel filter (depending on year), radiator master cylinders, etc. a lot easier. It's also one less thing that can go wrong.

If my daily driver were to have PS issues, I would fix them instead of doing the delete on that though.

I will agree with you here, but... If you actually found a nonpowersteering rack and throw that in, it feels the same :)

i think powered short ratio is best for auto-x unless you have a terribly light front axle (like on an elise).

ricers.. your funny. Some people daily drive w/ no PS, and love it. I removed the belt on my 318is when the pump went, and it wasnt hard to drive at all. I enjoyed it. I was hesitant to remove it on my current 325 because of the little extra weight up front, but now with more input on properly deleting the pump- Im taking it out.

yeah, ricers. What's the purpose of a stripped out street car? beating civics light to light?
