Yes, you could, but you would have to make an entirely new rear suspension along with the transaxle. Probably would be best to use the entire rear end from a Vette, but that would need considerable skill, and the different geometry, roll center, spring rates may make for a very poor result; a car that is no fun to drive.

You need to be a very creative, skilled fabricator to completely re-do the rear end of an E30 to incorporate a transaxle. It's a cool idea, but very little bang for the buck...and the LSx motors would shred it in no time. Our mostly stock LS1 makes as much torque at 1000 rpm as an M20 at peak. An LS7 makes more than 300lbft at 1000 rpm.Leave a comment:
