When driving a car with a really low steering ratio, like most pro cars and all formula cars, keeping your hands at 9/3 or 10/2 works. You'll not wind up with your arms crossed because of the low ratio. On a street car, with the higher steering ratio, you need to shuffle steer so that you maintain leverage on the steering wheel. If you let your arms cross and need to counter steer for a skid you have almost no leverage on the wheel.

So? (not directed at you Jim)
I don't think you can not shuffle steer using a street based steering rack. I think you would need a rack that has 2 turns lock to lock or less to nit gave to shuffle steer. I also don't think that it as black and white of an issue that to never shuffle steer people make it out to be.

That trackpedia stite is great, thx.
I have an Mtech2 steering wheel and 9-3 feels natural, and it had those thumb rests.
I think I may delete PS in the future.
The track I'm running doesn't really have any sharp corners so 9-3 is fine pretty much the whole time plus the pull technique. I have found myself pushing in a couple turns, have to get rid of that, and a few other daily drive habits.

remember trackpedie is based off of "opinions" from people that may or may not know anything. The last time I saw trackpedia for Sebring it was so far off that is was not even funny. I have gotten some usefull information off of there in the past, but It is much like this websight, there are some very knowledgeable people, and then.....Brian Jacobs

well it is the internet.. standard disclaimers should apply. having said that, i personally know the guys that started it they are racers and quite a few pros/coaches like skeen and peter krause frequent it. so as far as internet forums go, the ratio of yahoos is fairly low there. ymmv obviously.

Welp, had a blast again today. Lot more confidence, let the butt fly out a couple times.
There were more drivers that have no respect for anyone else on track this time, so I just let them pass and get as far away from me as possible. I'd meet most of them going slow half a lap later because they probably killed the brakes. My brother and his gf were watching and saw an e36 spin out, like three clocks.
I have no doubt this is highly addictive and I'm sad the season's slowly ending.
Should have pics tomorrow.
