if you have some 14's or 15's laying around i would put them on for more sidewall. the taller side wall with less psi will help transfer weight and i bet would hook better than a wider tire with a shorter sidewall.

I am curious how the v710s will hook up, I know they aren't drag tires but with 30 treadwear I figure they'll launch better than fk 452s. dkbmxer002, I am basically going down in size from 16 to 15.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

that's good. the more sidewall the more you have to tranfer the energy. like i said try to get the tire pressure somewhere between 20-24psi give or take, dial it in and see what works best. DO NOT GO THROUGH THE WATER. go around and do a little burnout nothing more than a good clean off of the tires (3-5 seconds) anymore will be waste on a street tire.
also a trick alot of mustang and fbody people do is when they are going to the drag strip they disconnect one link on the front sway bar to allow weight transfer. if you have a front strut tower i would take it off for the track. the more you are able to weight transfer the better it will help you. (remove front sway bar link at own risk... but for what it's worth i took mine out completely in my camaro)

Huh? How will front sway bar OR strut bar do anything for weight transfer, does not make sense?Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

Yep, I've also heard that removing the front swaybar in drag cars helps bring the front end up, which loads the rear more, which helps traction. The front end might lift unequally, but it adds weight to both rear tires, and even if it is somewhat uneven it's still additional weight on the rear end. I'm not sure if this is applicable to a IRS car, but it is supposed to make a difference on a solid axle car. Plus you can loose 10-15lbs up front removing it, further helping front end lift.

I had to go low on pressure... like 15-20psi. You're going to probably chunk them with pressure that low (I chunked mine). But if I left them at 30+ psi, I couldn't hook, even with a massive burnout. When I did drop pressure and do a nice burnout, they hooked like a son of a bitch. I've never run drag tires, so I don't have anything to compare them to, but I have more traction then I can use with v710's. My clutch slipping abilities are limited (aka non-existent). I was dumping the clutch at 4-5k and it would make a loud bang, bog the motor a bit, and just go. There was no tire spinning. It sounded like the end of the world, but it was an awesome feeling.

and i said remove at own risk but i have driven for 4 years without mine installed at all on my camaro... but like i said you can remove the links at the track and just hook em back up before you leave.

A really nice 240Z with a built 280 block, ported head, cam, triple Mikuni's and running perfectly did a 13.2 @ 104. He also disconnected the front sway bar.
