Very nice build. Color me impressed. Out of curiosity how much would you charge for that intake? I have that huge bump in HP and TQ between 3000-3500 with my turbo setup @12psi. Can we have more info on the water injection setup as well? I'm probably pushing the stock pistons as it as with my stock CR, but maybe in the future I'll upgrade. You know, after this head gasket gives up the ghost.

Now I can't wait to get my car dyno'd. Thanks for the info. Love to see turbo M42's.

Are you using the getrag 240 still? If so, how's it holding up to the power?

We've had the G240 in the car since last September (09).

So far so good. We drive the car hard and the trans is holding up. We keep a spare G240 in the trailer just in case.

They usually have a club race in March and October every year.

We made the March race this year and the October race was moved to Vegas and then cancelled.

So if all goes well we should be back there early next season.

It was not a match made in heaven as the transmission is a different length requring a different prop shaft length or moving the engine forward.

                    We're running a lightened M20 flywheel.

We're running an Aquamist water injection system that we purchased from Howerton Engineering. He specializes in upgrades for Mini-Coopers and was very knowledgable and helpful.

                        ^Thanks Rob... appreciate it.

Unfortunately it looks like I have bigger fish to fry. Looked at my log today after a drive and it looks like either my turbo is running out of juice after 4500 rpm or my Hallman boost controller isn't up to the task of working with the internal wastegate on the turbo. I hit peak boost around 3500 rpm and then after 4500 it starts to bleed down to about 155ish KPA until redline.

I'll have to look into it... need to get this thing figured out before dyno'ing since the weather is now under 100 degrees here.

Interesting about the torque hump from 3k to 3500 revs-I have the same, but more like 3k to 4500. Time to get mine dyno'd as well, although 0.5bar on stock internals won't be anywhere close haha. Always good to see turbo M42s.

fwiw have you ever run a small case diff on the car? I'm kinda assuming not, but I'm trying to figure out if I should put a medium case in/if the small case will hold up long.

Since our car started life as a 325i we always had the medium case diff and a built one at that. With that said, we haven't had the need to try the small case.

Based on what we are finding with the G240, the small case might be strong enough. Heat might be an issue with the small case diff since it probably carries less oil than a medium case (just a guess).

We just started running an oil temp gauge for the diff. Which reminds me to track the temps on that gauge during our next test weekend.

Good to know, although for what it's worth I'm now on my third G240. First one somehow became pressurized and sprayed almost 2 quarts of fluid out of the trans vent in 20 minutes at putnam park. Killed the bearings and synchros, but was a great way to force me to learn to double-clutch after refilling it. Drove it that way for 2 months before I started losing gears. Second one I think may have been damaged a bit before I got it, because it shredded 3rd gear shifting from second to third at Gingerman. Maybe I've just had particularly bad luck, I don't know...

                                Thanks for the feedback.

I drive the car pretty hard. Lets see how long this current G240 lasts for us.

We keep a spare in the trailer and a backup to that one in the garage. We figured their cheap so we should have some backups.
