    Scca class help

I am trying to figure out what class I will be running in if I choose to compete this upcoming year. I am factory chassis s50 with software g260. E36m3 5 lug, factory dif and ds. 95m3 steering, deleted back seat. Autopower roll bar, gc coil overs, gc race camber caster plates. Adjustable rear subframe all remaining bushings poly, treehouse eyballs. Twin custom exhaust with cat . Mason strut tie bar. Carbon hood. No ac no abs no bs. Staggered e36 m3 17 ltw's with 245/35/17 rear 235/40/17 front. 2700 lbs without my fat ass.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Road Racing or Autocross?

I'm going to assume Autocross, since you mentioned a roll bar and not a roll cage.

With those mods, I'd say one of the Street Touring classes. STX maybe?

Get familiar with the rules. You may need to backdate some parts if you want to be competitive (to get into a lower class). There will be somewhere you can run the car as is, so get out and do it!

    Rules can be downloaded here:

Thanks. Sorry I forgot to mention auto-x. I have run novice a few times but I would love to compete. I was thinking I would be S-mod after reading the rules that sucks for me because there are some crazy cars in S-mod.

I'm pretty sure that would put you in E Modified. SCCA rules aren't ideal for engine swapped cars short of full blown race cars.

Street Mod doesn't allow engine block swaps.

          16. STREET MODIFIED CATEGORY
          16.1 ALLOWED MODIFICATIONS

          D. Drivetrain and related components (induction, ignition, fuel systems,
etc.) are unrestricted except for the following limitations:

          1. Engine block must be a production unit manufactured and badged the same as the original standard or optional engine for that model.
          MODIFIED CATEGORY
          MODIFIED CLASS E (EM)

Modified Production and GT cars as follows:
          A. Weight (with driver) vs. Displacement
Piston engines up to & including 3200 cc OHC: 1700 lbs
Piston engines up to & including 4500 cc pushrod/OHV: 1700 lbs
2-rotor rotary engines w/ unrestricted porting: 1700 lbs
Piston engines unlimited displacement: 1800 lbs
          3-rotor rotary engines w/ unrestricted porting: 1 800 lbs
          B. Performance Adjustments
          AWD: Add 300 lbs
          Modified Tub: Add 50 lbs
          C. Weight Bias Adjustment - with driver sitting in the driver’s seat
RWD w/ less than 51% weight on drive wheels: Deduct 50 lb
          FWD: Deduct 50 lb

I just looked into it and I have a shot at winning xp due to the reliability of my car. The Other XP competitors have trouble making it into every event.

Nice I was about to ask almost the exact same question. My setup is pretty similar to yours but I haven't decided whether or not to weld in rear camber/toe adjusters. From what I've read thats the only thing that would bump me out of SM into $M.

I just talked to the regional man in charge and he informed me that I can Run SM with all the boosted subbies. That should be fun.

There's no rollbars in SM. Pretty sure the bar throws in a prepared class.

So he is making a personal exception?

that says you can't swap engines from other makes. S52 swaps are okay, LS1 swaps are not.

According to the director at large

"SM allows any motor from the same manufacturer or Family of manufacturers for cross branded cars"
