    Should I go to Nurburgring?

I'm leaving tomorrow for France. I will be in the north east. The ring is about a 3 hour drive from where I will be. I was thinking I could go to the ring and rent a car there. Like in one of those shops http://www.rsrnurburg.com.

Do some of you guys have any experience with that? Should I do it? ANy comments?!

    Thanks!!

How many times will you have the ability to go do it? I would do it even in a cheap rental car, but I'm a broke college student.

Can you really go on the ring with a cheap rental car? What about liability?

As I understand it is a toll road. You don't have to drive it balls out. you're a bit more cautious that I am, but I would do it just to say I've done it.

edit: please talk to someone who has more experience. I'm just speculating. I think it's totally worth it for the experience.

regular rental companies will not let you take their car on the ring. however, there are rental agencies around the ring JUST for ring cars.

It's a place that BMW M Engineers told me while at the BMW M Event in Indy... if you get a chance do not pass it up. It's on the "Bucket List" for BMW M employees... and they are not that far away.

Let's just say that if anyone stateside knows that you were within three hours of going on the best track in the world, and found out that you didn't go, your E30 license will be instantly revoked.

Your E30 will be given away at once and replaced with a Chevy Chevette.

Go I should be there soon myself. I've been debating if its worth it to rent the lotus when I could buy a beater e30 to do it in for the same price.

From what I have read, the Lotus is a bad choice for a first timer on the Nurburgring. While not that powerful, it is quick and the track is hard to learn. Everything I have seen suggests a hot hatch at the most. An E30 would be a good rwd choice imo.

So if you ball up the car I hope your credit card will cover it. Or better yet your insurance will. I balled an E30 about a decade ago and USAA said go beep yourself. It cost me more for the barrier than the car so I could have cared less.
