    Winnings/earnings from events??

Dumb question but I'm completely new to all of this. I have been searching and scowering the internet. How do you guys find an event at your chosen track that HOLDS events and has PRIZE WINNINGS? I live in Arizona and could only find tracks that hold professional races for my fellow rednecks to watch, no civilian events that have prized earnings. Or how do you find events at your track that holds some kind of prestige if you win instead of you just being the winner of the "team" you drove to the track with.

The short answer: there aren't any. We race for fun and bragging rights. If you win a tire or a certificate for $50 off brake pads its a bonus.

To put it in perspective, when I won my Time Trial National Championship, I earned about $1100 in contingincies. Probably cost me $5000 to win it!

      What Kyle said!

For this past year I can claim to be:

      NASA Texas regional champion
      NASA MidSouth regional champion
BMW CR South Atlantic regional champion
      BMW CR National champion

My only "winnings" for the year are a $100 TireRack certificate. We aren't even going to talk about what that cost as the wifely person might find out. We do this for personal satisfaction and bragging rights.

Well yes it was. It took four years (okay, I'm a slow learner) but I finally figured out how to drive the car fast. When someone asks I'll tell them that the secret was moving the seat forward a half inch. But really it was that I finally started to believe and started driving totally by sight picture.

Now to do it again this season...

Drag race events around here have prize money. Anywhere from $300 to $10,000 for first and usually 2nd and Semis. Some even pay all the way in to Quarter Finals

Fabricated motorsports has loot to be won on their lonestar bash drift series. Plus I think the top two at the end of the events win a Formula D license.

Edit: so basically, come to Texas!

when I took 1st in SM (autox class) locally, I got erm.. my name on a list of club champions :p

when I got 2nd in SM the year before I got a nice glass.

so yeah.. you aren't going to be winning prize money in an E30, and if you are, it's not going to even cover the costs of participating.
