Yeah I know that's why I can't wait to get down there and check. That ratio will be perfect for my eta.

Finesse and weight transfer drifting is so much more fun to watch than a guy with a V8 just burning out the whole time. Anybody can power over.

Let me help shed some light on the subject. Ive got a 302 e30 not a 5.0 but a 302. Heres what your going to need to get it done. You need to order the swap stuff from e30v8.com unless your comfortable with designing and welding your own mounts/oil pan. Then you will need a 4 barrel holley(speed demon and quick fuel tech are also holley based but more expensive) double pumper in the 600-650 range and it order your self the wedge floats to help with fuel slosh. Ull also need an aluminum 4 barrel intake. U need to get either a low pressure external fuel pump or like a walbro intank pump dep on if its a early or late model car. Then u need a fuel pressure regulator so u can keep fuel pressure at 6-8psi. u'll also need to get ahold of modern drivelines and buy a conversion fly wheel as its the easiest option to bolt on the diaphram style clutch that ull need for the t5 tranny unless u decide to run an older 4 speed. U'll also need to get a slave cylinder and a hydro clutch line.

Now for the facts u really want to know. The 302 stock to stock is about 80lbs heavier. This is nul and viod when u consider your removing 2 cylinders from hanging off the front of the axel it also sits much lower and u can possition it farther back towards the firewall. Next you throw in the options of aluminum/billet accesories/heads/waterpump/intake and get rid of the cast manifolds for either a longtube or a mustang gt/lightning shorty header and your much lighter then the m20. Power wise it really comes down to the fact that your not going to be doing worse then 200/250 wheel hp/torque on any configuration of 302 with the required intake/carb. The reason some 302s were underpowered was emisions and tiny carbs and bad flowing intakes. You do a cam/aluminum heads/intake/carb/ and your looking at around 300 wheel and upto 350-400 with proper combos and compression. You can get the same numbers from a turbo m20 but itll be alot effort and tuning.

                My build as a referance.

^enjoyed your build. But sadly it turned me away from the 302 even more. Not sure I'm ready to attempt that as of right now.

So the plans thus far are
                  1.855 head swap
2.Switch over I electronics after head swap and recoupe money
                  3.Wheels
                  4.hydro e brake

                  anything else?

I'm currently running hr race springs and blistien sports. Would I be better off selling the hr's and buying the GE coil over springs?

Coils would definitely help you a lot. I also agree that you shouldn't waste your money on a hydro brake, at least right now.

Bilstein races are actually decent enough spring rates i think but the adjustment of coils cant be beat.

so looks like i need to find a lsd then wait on everything else. What is a good spring weight for drifting? keep in mind this is my daily driver too but I don't mind a rough ride.

The ideal? You'd want about 950/1100. I run 450 and 700, though I definitely want to up it a few hundred.
