GC Coilovers, Limit straps in the rear?

I saw a guy selling some GC Coils from his Pro3 car recently that came with some limiting straps. I assume its so the rear springs don't go flying if the car sees full lift in the rear during track use.

It got me thinking - that might me a semi-necessary piece of equipment for track use.

Anyone using such pieces? Where did you get them? Are they necessary?

I made some when I had my car lowered on GC's. I used nylon straps and drillled them into the tabs on the srping perch and subframe. took me 15min and looked decent.

I went with their tall RSM's instead. Does the same thing.

Do you jump your car? you're not going to completely unload the rear springs and get full droop.

they're for when you jack it up and the springs come out of the seats, making it a pain in the ass to set it back down. but race shocks have such high rebound that it's unlikely the spring come out out on the road.

heck, with the new Bilsteins I have, I can jack up both rears at the same time and it doesn't unload the rear suspension much; the shocks themselves keep the springs in their perches. With my Konis I had to do one side at a time or play games while lowering the car and sticking my arms in places I'd rather not.

hey I'm the guy that bought that PRO3 suspension with limiting straps in the rear. Haven't installed the new D/As yet, waiting on springs, anyone have pictures of where the rear limiting straps would be clipped-on/mounted to? The bottom part looks self-explanatory, not sure about where it clips onto.

If you hop a curb on track its pretty easy to go wheels up,if you go with straps just make surethe allow some droop.Set the straps to limit the droop to just before the springs are loose enough to fall out.

Exactly. I certainly don't plan to go airborn on purpose!

I would look into how some of the long travel trucks have theirs setup and copy something like that.

Exactly... the tall RSM's prevent this from happening as well :)

                          So do shorter shocks.
