No updates yet, its still in the trailer. I honestly think its going to be fixable, I took a quick look around inside last night, cage did not move at all, so repair would just be cosmetic as far as I know right now. May change when I get it in the air and have a good look. I'll post pics and updates as I go forward.

Last video of the car, from May, racing a friends S54 swapped M3 (which is actually my old street car).

I'm always excited when I get an email telling me there are updates to this thread - sorry to hear that in this case, it's the result of a crash! Really glad to hear that you're ok. Best of luck going forward. I know all of us guys with M42s love to see an "M42" used in real anger for racing!

Rust just makes the car lighter ;)

Seriously though, glad you're OK, and good luck finding a new shell.

No, not near that much! With stand alone, and dash, probably closer
to $20-25k, +/- depending on what options you choose.
You can go mild to wild on the management/dash which will vary the cost a lot.
We have a fairly basic system, kinda regretted not going with a better system after the fact, still sometimes consider going to a full Motec system, but the state of the car has changed priorities in a hurry...

Solid lifter kit came from Metric Mechanic.

Doing up an M42 is expensive. the 2.1 rallye engine MM builds is around $10k and makes 210hp or so I think, we had that engine originally and blew it up.
The Rebello engine makes quite a bit more power and cost quite a bit more.

This is the first time seeing this thread.

I wonder what the price is of a Rebello head?

Sucks about the crash but hope you get it going again, this is like my dream build.

Huge bummer. Glad you're ok. If the A-pillar and firewall are smashed, it would be way more work to cut and weld the new section in from a donor than to find a rusty shell and fix it up a bit.

Sorry to hear man! I love watching your videos. Sorry for your loss, but most importantly, we're all glad that you made it out OK.

I would take a shell with a little rust over trying to salvage it. Rust can be removed/patched/ignored - my own car has it's fair share in some parts.

But remember, it's racing - not a concourse.

    :)

I am really hoping its fixable somehow, this chassis has had extensive lightening that I don't want to do! Car is under 2100lbs with me in it and fuel.
Finding a rust free shell where I live is about as easy as finding a sasquatch.
    They don't exist.

Unfortunately, that's a death kneel on these cars. Salvage what you can, find another shell and move everything over.. You'll be back!
