Racing seats - Which ones are tall enough?

I'm looking for a recommendation on a racing seat that won't make me feel like a blue hair in Florida on a mad dash to bingo.

I'm 6 feet tall and weigh around 180 depending on my protein intake. I co-own and co-drive the car with a buddy who is about 6' 4" and 220ish.

We had Corbeau Clubman's in the car but they were absolutely horrendous. Mostly they were FAR to low for me. We want something that will put the driver at stock height. The sunroof track and headliner have been removed and a new roof welded in.

We are leaning towards OMP's but open to suggestions. We would like a halo seat and one that's HANS compatible.

Sparco Evo2 Plus. I think it's been renamed but that's what the old name was.

Narrow-ish, HANS-compatible, shoulder holes are at the actual height, good bolstering....the seat is great. Height-wise in the car is more dependent on the brackets used to mount it but should be doable. I'm pretty sure there's a halo seat based off of it but I'm not totally sure.

If you want to spend a little more, the Racetech 4009HR is the nicest seat I've sat in, and I've tried a lot of them. It does have a lot of rake built into the cushion though, so does the Sparco Circuit, which is a little cheaper. I guess that's what you're talking about when you say low, the rest of it is in the brackets.

The OMP's have a pretty flat cushion, I personally don't like the material though.

I'm 6'1" and 175, running a sparco pro2000 and I have an Evo2(Evo L) as my office chair. I would say that the pro2000 might be a tight fit for your friend, even the Evo2 might still be a bit tight. It's hard to say.

I run some OMP brackets and have it fairly high. With helmet on I still have about 2 inches from the roof (no headliner). Seating position is probably about stock, you can see the hood just fine.

I have the Sparco Pro2000 with Massive side mounts to stock sliders. Great setup for drivers of multiple heights and sits right at stock height. As mentioned it isn't a halo seat, but it's a really nice seat and the height is right.

I go low- tech- Ultra Shield aluminum, here.
They fit, and they'll build 'em to fit you, too, if you ask.

Never sat in a seat more comfortable/supportive than a Velo GP90. They do the Viper model if you need halo style. Not sure what the availability of Velo would be like in the States though.

                Kirkey seats

come in differant sizes and aluminum. Very good seats. designed for roll caged cars and a 5 or 6 pt harness belts only

for race cars only, not a street seat

Nice thanks guys. We were looking at the OMP rs-p.t. 2 as an option but I stumbled across this on Kirkey.

Would that kirkey seat be enough? We want head restraint and will be running 6 points and a hans. This is all overkill for lapping days, but this is likely to become a lemons or chump car in the future.

I'm not sure I understand what the problem with the original seats was. You want the seat mounted as low as you can get it. As long as you can see over the dash it isn't too low. A tall drive needs a seat that is tall enough to place the shoulder straps in the correct position. But I think that any FIA seat should manage that.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The problem was that it was very difficult to see the next turn because the seat was so low. It felt very uncomfortable. I feel that the stock seat height gives a great view over the nose of the car and allows me to drive better (I think).

You have to order them in bulk I think. I have sat in the halo version before, the one with the huge opening in the side, and it was awesome. Those are really cool seats

                          tall race seats

                          Race tech, all the way.

By far one of the best seats out there and they have some for tall folks.

I am 6ft and 210 lb. I have Recaro SPG XL seats in my 968 DE car. They are not Halo type and I am using a HANS.

That suggests to me that you aren't looking far enough down the track and through the curve. To go fast one looks way out there and when the sight picture looks right you brake and/or turn. You don't want to bring your focus in close, but rather use peripheral vision to know where the car is on track and where the braking point is.

That is a little tough to learn to do, but it is the way to go fast.
