OP i think you'll be fine at that ride height. It wouldn't be that hard to run the adjusters up a bit in the front though.

As far as SM goes, let me just leave this here.

My thoughts on the classing are i may be stuck in sm but i keep my eyes on stx times. Imo those cars are quite comparable to an enthusiast modded e30.

$200,000 car for 5 minutes of seat time per event. plus you have to stand out there and work for hours. Yeah, I don't get it.

I am definitely interepreting this wrong, but SP regs say:

15.1 C. Equipment and/or specifications may be exchanged between different
years and models of a vehicle if:
          (a) the item is standard on the year/model from which it was taken,
          and
          (b) the years/models are listed on the same line of Appendix A, Street
          Prepared Classes.
The updated/backdated part or the part to which it is to be attached
may not be altered, modified, machined, welded, or otherwise
changed to facilitate the updating/backdating allowance. Standard
factory installation methods, locations, and configurations are allowed.
The updating and/or backdating of engines, transmissions,
transaxles, and/or unibodies must be done as a unit; component
parts and specifications of these units may not be interchanged.
Cars not listed in the Street Prepared Sections of Appendix A may
not be updated/backdated until approved by the SEB and published
          in the official SCCA® publication.
          (a) and (b) both seem to be pretty well satisfied, but having to use an e34 pan seems to kill this idea. Then again, when it comes to classing, I have no idea what I'm doing.

I think update backdate only applies to the same generation of model. So e30's can only be updated backdated with other e30 parts.

Right. The M5X/S5X engines were not available in E30s. From what I understand / have been told / have discussed with several SCCA officials, that fact alone puts any and all 24v swaps into SM.

Just an update to OP, this was what I was running at the Rose Cup Races/Oregon Triple Regional two weekends ago. It's just .5" above our legal height for PRO3 (5" at the body.)

Ignore the "custom" body work I had to perform on the rear wheel well with a sledgehammer - had a Viper try to sneak under me in Turn 4 the day before..
