    Steering Wheel Position

I know some of these issues have been covered, but I'm looking for specific advise on a couple of related issues. I'm 6'0" with long legs and find that my optimal seat position has the steering wheel too far away. Right now I am running sport seats all the way lowered, with a Momo hub and a Momo Prototipo wheel.

My friend has an NRG 2.5 quick release that he let me install. I believe these space the wheel out by about 3" versus just the normal Momo hub.

The problem is with the quick release, I think the wheel is TOO close and it also makes the steering wheel very high relative to my body. I think I need somewhere in between.

My options are going to the NRG slim hub, going to a wheel with no dish (might not be a large difference), and going to the NRG slim quick release. I can't find any data anywhere on how slim the NRG hub is versus the Momo hub. I also kind of want to avoid the NRG slim quick release, because I had one in the past, and it developed some slop/play.

Does the NRG slim hub allow you to retain the turn signal return plus the horn wiring? How much space does the slim hub + 2.5 quick release add versus just having the Momo hub?

Lastly, I think I need to lower the steering column. I read about doing that and it seems relatively easy to cut the bolts out and add some spacers. Will lowering the column effectively move the wheel even closer to me? Bottom line is I could use the wheel to be about 1" lower and about 2" closer to me versus the stock position with a Momo hub and wheel.

You can buy hub spacers. I got a 1" spacer on eBay for like $30 shipped and it made a huge difference. They probably have larger ones, and if not since it has the same bolt pattern as the Momo you could probably stack them if needed. Not sure if it's the best idea, but it would probably work.

I did see those, and there are various sizes on eBay. That might ultimately be the better route than the quick release, and allow me to fine tune it.

You can always buy steering column spacers to drop the steering wheel. Since we don't have tilt steering. Net short hub is ran so that the hub+the quick release is around the same length as a momo. Maybe a little longer.

You beat me to it, gangsta- it's easy to drop the wheel, and as long as you don't mind
it 12mm or so lower, it's easy to tailor it after that.

Mine's down a bit over an inch, and with a 3rd party quick release, it's great.

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves
