    Was just perusing the rule books and both say the cars are 87-91??

    You can.

    Mine started life as an 85 325e. Another buddies started life as an 84 318.

    You just need to swap the M20B25 motor, engine harness and ecu.

    Many have done it, and many more continue to do it as the cost for a good donor shell goes up.

        Yes m20b25 and the 51mm housings with disc breaks all around those are their main interest

            I have been, but Im not entirely sure what my plan is yet... I know you just did almost the same thing on yours. I would have to gain probably 400# from what Ive read.

            Isnt 2700# the required curb weight?

              2700 with driver, so you'd need to add maybe 100lbs of cage and ballast.

                Im pretty sure if I remove the interior and the Lukebox, the car would be down in the ~2350 range, and I'll be (un)lucky to be pushing 200# fully suited and booted.

                  So ballast yourself appropriately. Get it up on a corner scale and even yourself out.

                    Yeah putting weight back in is ideal. Once you get a cage, fire system, m20 stuff, etc back in it you won't be too far off unless you are a tiny little guy.

                    EDIT: kinda forgot your car was an m52 already, but regardless, adding weight is where you want to be so you can place it.

                        putting weight back in is ideal.
                        Not really, because you have to put it in the passenger seat.

                        Many leave the tar in the trunk, run a big battery, etc, until they're sure they need to
                        lose weight.

                        But the early cars do seem to be lighter, just wandering around the paddock.

                        And yes, if you stick a M20B25, wiring harness and struts on, it's Pro3 appropriate.

                          You are outside of the Spec E30 rules making that many changes to the car. But the chassis is allowed.
