    Long Tube Header for Rally-X?

We have an E30 that we're using to compete in Modified RWD in SCCA Rally-X. I am trying to come up with an exhaust solution for the car. I really want to get a long tube or otherwise equal length header so we can increase torque across the entire powerband. However, it appears that most all long tube header designs "Ireland Engineering and Stahl" sit at least a full inch lower that the oil pan and are the biggest concern for those who track these cars and smashing the collector. I would love to get a Racing Dynamics "basket o' snakes" equal length header, but I believe the guy who still makes that header is dead.

Is there a solution for long tube headers that have good ground clearance, or am I better off having someone fabricate some?

    In for responses.

It seems like the "OBX" eBay style ones don't hang too low, but have flange issues and are poorly welded (plus aren't really long tubes). The "Topspeed" BavAuto replicas and apparently the IE "long tubes" apparently sit really low. I wonder how hard it is to fix the IE's?

        Those hang pretty low.

Yep, but the sound they produce is intoxicating.

Nice pipes. On the course I was on in Vermont those would definitely get crushed.

I'm lost on why they design them to hang so freaking low. A simple bend up in that design would fix that. Does anyone have similar pics of a Ireland Engineering header. I'm curious what the clearance on those are as well.

I welcome you to try and make it closer to the body while using proper 1.5" primaries. You will answer your own question rather quickly.
