This shifter is "not" like the CAE, two completely different approaches.
This shifter is much more like a cheap Bimmerworld / AKG knock off which is basically a knockoff of the original E30M3 DTM shifter with some modern updates.

The CAE (and its offshoots) with its elevated shift tower, altered pivot different geometry and adjustable preload springs is a completely different animal.

These things can only be compared to the other plate mounted ones which are much better designed without that long threaded rod just waiting to break.

    Looks like it would break.

You didn't realize that once the illest/stance crowd discovered the e30?

For the reviews I've read on these on Facebook, nobody seems to think they're without flaw, but for the price it seems to be a good purchase if you're looking for this style shifter vs the CAE @ $600+

Th e giant amount of threaded rod extending downward from the shifter stalk scares the shit out of me.
That is a failure point waiting to happen.
Spend a little more and get AKG or Bimmerworld.

My friend has one in his e36, it's sorta notchy but doesn't feel terrible. Definitely an improvement over a worn out sloppy oem setup. The jam nut has loosened up on him once or twice but I had him put some blue lock tight on and it seemed to not have any issues since. His car is only a track car. I personally don't know if I would like using it everyday.

    P'shaw. It'll be fine!

Of course, with a 3:1 leverage ratio, it's one long short shifter...

I have a similar shifter, definitely invest in solid trans mounts or at the minimum new stock.

I have one but I'm lazy and haven't gotten around to installing it because I dont want to pull the exhaust. I'm not sure what's wrong with the engineering, it Looks and feels well built to me

Compared to oem it seems sturdier imo.
