Using those brackets, the fan with it's metal shroud rests on the bottom center rubber "bumper" in the radiator support.

Gotcha, but I was referring to the areas circled in red. Somehow the brackets have to be attached to the underside of the top of the core. I see holes on the brackets but I'm not sure how they attach to the core.

This is interesting right in the middle of this kids thread.

I don't know Colegrove personally but I have known of him for going on decades now and when it comes to building a racing chassis you can take his word as gospel. Also since he started building for the street there have never been such wicked parts available for these old sleds. I can see in here that he's not the most personable dude but then I've never known of anyone to say he was full of shit either.

Like we say: There is them and then there is them and they just don't know.

The Vorshlag guys had an STS E30 318is in the 2300's.
Considering he's the dude that was preaching balance, power to weight, exotic metals and composites before anyone had ever heard of Kevlar and Lexan. I would say he was well within the line and I'm actually surprized at what he did let out on a public forum because secrets be secrets and all. Whatever.

This will drop a pretty decent amount of weight and I've never had overheating problems with just the facotory electric fan. I'm going to go ahead and flip the wires from high/low speed on the coolant sensor so it turn on on high first.
That's exactly what it was...just got in from the garage. I removed the clips from the condenser mounting and put them underneith.

                        Thanks!

Not sure if this complies to the rules of the class you're intending to race in, or how much you are planning on spending, but you could replace the windows and windshield with lexan.

Alright..I got all the fan parts, but how do I mount the bottom bracket (#11)??

If I mount #11 with the #4 bolt and #7 bushing to the fan housing, it places the fan too high in the core in order for me to get things lined up and attach the upper brackets.

#13 and #12 are mounted in the center hole on the bottom of the core

bottom is just a rubber grommet. i think it just sits on the rad support

Right #12 is a grommet/bushing that attaches to the bottom of the rad support, BUT there is a metal cup (they call it a bottom bracket) #11 (see posts above) that is supposed to attach to the fan housing, but I have no idea how yet still allow the fan to fit in the area.
