Dan Gurney Fan also???
That's OK, but 48 is the number I choose at events as well when I have a chance. Dan Gurney's old Race number, and he's a fellow to respect.
I have this really good friend that's always been obsessed with the number 48, I'm talking saves everything with the number 48 on it. Reciepts with fast food order numbers, raffle tickets, anything. So by hanging out with him for so long, it just kind of became the number I pick for everything, it's the first number that pops into my head.
As far as the sizing, they're not going to make a fuss. Our local club is pretty laid back about that kind of thing. We never do more than one car on a course at a time, so the number of each car is recorded in the timing booth when they go out.Comment

One run group works while the other run group drives. I've done both, and since we only have one car out on the track at a time, we don't call in the number of the car. The guys in the van are monitoring the car on the track, so they have their number. When they murder a cone, we just call in "one cone" or "one gate" at whatever station we're at, and they respond back with a confirmation.Comment

This weekend's event just ended about an hour ago. Went pretty well, I beat my own times consistently all day, with only one run penalized (I killed 3 cones), all the rest were clean.
Then I had to give a fun-run (un-timed runs at the end of the day) to some bouncy little high-school chick that had been asking me stuff about my car all day. I got quite a bit of shit about it from all the rest of the guys as we were going to the car. I told 'em all "fuck off, it's my birthday, I'm taking the little hottie out for a spin". :DComment

nice D-I-Y.. i use #325 (HPDE)or #523 (Auto-X).. picked mine up on line best place for number storage .. on your tool box !! (as long as its metallica)
i tried that under the trunk lid and came back a few days later to find them not where i put them ..
also, if your magnetic numbers get bent up or out of sorts, place them on a warm hood 10-15 mins ..
here are some shots

I didn't even know that your car had pinstripes until i saw the close up on the numbers. I am not usually a fan of stripes but i actually really like the look on your car.Comment
