Auto-x noob could use a helpful hint.

So I ran in a local auto-x today, first time to run in my e30. One thing I noticed is that it plows BAD on sharp longer corners. the front tires skid. Tire pressures got fucked up on the first 2 runs in the front due to a leak in the valve. I fixed that and brought it to 37 in the front and 41 in the back, hoping to fix the plow. No luck however. Anyone care to shed some light?

    drop the front pressures.

    Understeer [plow]:
lower the front, or raise the rear.

    Oversteer:
raise the front, lower the rear.

    OR, try slower entry speeds.

Slower entry speeds would be my guess. Depending on the severity of the leak, I would get it patched and try the same 37/41 idea again.

        Slow in, fast out.

What tires? Next time mark your sidewalls with white shoe polish and see how much you are rolling over to get the pressure closer to where it should be.

        Also, proper alignment will help.

The leak was just the valve being irritating, its fixed. I'll mark the sidewalls next time. I'm getting an alignment and my steering rack un-fucked (replaced) this week.

I had the same damn problem.

But only after I am almost at full lock.

Upgrade the rear sway bar to promote oversteer maybe?

You are probably going too fast into a corner, especially with a full lock...

I think that might be my problem as well.

I try to keep my right foot for the most part planted on the gas because of my lack of low end with the m42.

Well it hasn't been a problem except last week, must have been because of the real tight course, I should have slowed down more.

My e30 plowed like a john deere when I first started, even when I slowed down. The front shocks were blown. Some food for thought.

Shocks were blown to bits when I bought the car, first things I replaced with some nice Bilsteins. The tires are some crap called Sumitomo's that I got from the my mechanic that put the shit exhaust. I bought the car as a DD so I didn't mind having crap tires, except that the tires proved to be pretty bloody good for being crap. I'm gonna get some track compounds when I have the money and an extra set of wheels, I'm biting myself for giving away my basketweaves.

You are entering to fast. An Evo school will prove it to you.

You can make a horrendously loose car understeer if you do things all wrong.

FWIW I've seen a former and current autox national champ make a bone stock rental ford tauras OVERsteer.
