Nissan claims GT-R's "Launch Control" Voids the warranty!?!
Uhhhh, you obviously are talking out of your asshole. Not a car to go fast in? They would kill 99.9% of vehicles on the road, and 100% of vehicles youve driven. I dont read many of these car mags, but we tend to have the ones with the GTR lying around the customer waiting rooms. They shit all over a lot of high end cars, and dont cost nearly as much.
With that said, I still wouldnt want one.
Woh, let's just insult some people, because that'll make whatever you say right!
In stock form, it doesn't destroy the C5 Z06's, C6's, M3's, 911's like it's hyped up to be. I was all excited to see it stomp everything out there, and the driver was very quick in his previous car (S2000 with coilovers) but the GT-R just wasn't all that special.
Sure, it'll kick the shit out of a Saturn or a Camry, but tell me they haven't rigged at least some of their magazine tests. 11.5 @ 126 mph...with '480' hp and 3900 lbs? Faster than 99% of the cars on the road? Yeah. Faster than everything on a track? Hell no. It's quick, but that's because it's got hundreds of programs running to take the driver out of the car.
Nissan just couldn't make a better, stronger, newer R34, and that's ideally what a GT-R is supposed to be.
Well, as I was saying, according to the magazines (non nissan affiliated id imagine or hope), it is faster and more nimble than the vets, m3 and 911. Now those may not be totally correct, lets say we even give the vettes and what not the edge.... That does not mean by any means that it is not a fast or quick car, and its just for looks. As far, HOW they are fast, who cares? The SMG is faster than the manual E60 M5, so who cares? If its faster, its faster.

OMG, magazines are TOTALLY scientific and NEVER allow ANY opportunity for a ringer!!! Magazines are so Right all the time!
If I had know you read a MAGAZINE, well, I wouldn't have bothered to actually go out and watch one make hot laps with a good driver. actual real world driving is totally pointless when compared to the opinions of some people who depend on advertising from the very manufacturers they are testing for their pay...
Who would want an envolving car wioth all their silly "feedback" and who really believes a car car "talk" to you when you can just turn on all the aids and just floor it everywhere and let to car cover all your driving errors? I mean, only silly people like E30 owners would be into stuff like that!

you obviously havnt kept up with car and driver have you? the skyline is cheaper than all other high performance cars with the packages to keep up. you get what you pay for. a asian piece of shit is known to break so often, the parts are cheap.... er thats what ricer boy said in school ;-) i guess the lies became truths.

Car & Driver?!?! Seriously, that's what you're basing your opinion off of?
Why would anyone buy a $100k Japanese sports car just to put up with parts that break often? And I highly doubt said parts are in any way, shape, or form "cheap".

exactly. $20K for a tranny is not what I would consider 'cheap' parts.

No, now you are asbolutely correct if I was preaching exactly what these magazines say. If you read that thread of mine, I wasnt. I said you can discredit it, and call those other cars faster. Do it, its fine, it may be true, it may not be. But when Nissan and these MAGAZINES call the motor ~480 HP, Id believe the figure to be around there until proven otherwise. Maybe the driver didnt know how to drive it, since there are all these programs you were bashing. Maybe, right? Maybe the motor does put out 480 HP. Since no one you know of has tested it, maybe, right? Or because you saw someone doing this person doing these alleged hot laps, its gotta be around 300 hp, and a real piece..
So what I am saying is just because you think you saw this car going unimpressively fast, to say the least, lets not call it a slow car. It is a fast car, itd be ignorant to say otherwise. Maybe the driver didnt know what the fuck he was doing. Maybe you should read a post correctly before you get all tough guy over the internet, fucking waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles.

So its settled, the viper is the best car ever built. The gtr (if you keep up with auto week) has just gone up in its price by 7k due to "increased cost of raw materials". Thats total crap. So nissan is telling the public that their nissan armada which has got to out weigh the gtr by a ton is retaining the same value but the GTR is going up. Has the price of carbon fiber shot up ten fold. I know the gtr can't have too much composite material based on its 3900lb curb weight.
Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
Ya know, I never liked any magizines performance tests. Many a car was ruined due to the dreaded 0-60 test. Once the 0-60 came out, auto transmissions were factory tuned to maximize the performance to benifit in a car rag's "0-60 Time" catigotry. Blame performance requirements on Tom McCahill.
That's the tip of the iceberg. The Japanese government struck a deal with Nissan that said "if the purchaser of this car does anything (read:AN-Y-THING) to this car, it voids the warranty." Nissan had to agree to it because of the Japanese culture. You can't even change the rims on these cars. The tires and rims have to come from the dealership and there's only a handful of them in Japan. (The above is for Japanese owners only)
So, with that being said, did you think we, as americans, would get a break? Hell no. But what makes me say all of this is simple: Why build a sports car (a legendary sports car that's aim is to take down the big dogs, ie: Ferrari, BMW, Porshe, etc.) when anything and everything you do to it voids the warranty? The answer is simple. Pride. That's why you can't modify it, that's why you can't touch it without it knowing.
They have black boxes in the damned things! They know each and every time that you've exceeded the speed limit.
Something tells me that this is only the beginning and we are headed towards tough times. Gone are the days of simple engineering, where the only traction control you have is your right foot.

Been over a year and it still doesn't the other motor mount made...
Think E46 M3 CSL: we didn't get it, but if we did, the situation would have been very similar to this. Sure, BMW wouldn't have been quite as gay as Nissan by forbidding owners from doing anything more than street-driving, but I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if they did not allow the owners to modify the cars for a certain period of time. Which was probably a HUGE reason they didn't export it to the States.
With that said, I think it's ridiculous what Nissan is doing. I agree with not allowing owners to modify the cars. I mean, the car sounds like it is already so capable that modifying it may have adverse effects. But, not allowing the car to be driven on a track, wtf?! Where is this car supposed to excel? On the highway? Taking Billy to soccer practice? No, it is, for all intents and purposes, a supercar, it should be driven on a track.
