    Tell me about hillclimb!

I am just starting off in autocross to get my race legs. I want to move up to track days and to hill climbs
tell me what I need to do to my car to make it pass inspection.
    what qualifications do I need?
I know there is a process but.... I have no clue as of right now
You have Honda = I talk shit

This doesn't answer your question at all... But it's so fun to watch.

Being in the NC area, I know of a few hillclimbs that go on each year. Whilst I'm not completely sure what qualifications/licenses you must obtain before getting out there, I know of two sanctioned events: the Wolf Ridge hillclimb in Asheville and the Eagle's Nest hillclimb in Banner Elk. I corner worked twice at the latter event and can attest to how well it is coordinated.

I do recommend visiting the CCR-SCCA region site for more information though.

Depends who you want to run with.

My dad's college Buddy (they both went to Warren Wilson in Swannanoa NC) used to compete in hill climbs with the SCCA back in the late 70's in an MG Midget. He still has the car and it is pretty badass, complete with a built motor running dual Strombergs, fully caged, and homemade pepsi oil catch can, lol. He also has 2 MGB-GTs and a '64 Sunbeam Tiger.

Cool guy, but he had a nasty wreck one night in another MG coming down Black Mountain. Caught one of the edges of the curbs coming down and ended up flipping the car and hurting himself pretty badly (lost a couple of fingers, scars, etc.). I believe he still lives at the bottom of Black Mountain...

That's pretty rad man. After going to a few local hillclimbs, I discovered just how thick the British car group is around here. I'm familiar with the Black Mountain area, I can't imagine having an off there, there is very little room for error.

it depends on your area and what club runs it, but to start you will most likely need a roll cage and a solo 1 license.

Yup, the British car guys are awesome.

First time I met the guy was about 7 years ago. I had just turned 15, and my dad had bought a '95 911 C2, Black on black. We flew down to Nashville, TN and headed back to Connecticut, but not before making a few stops along the way. One of these was to this guy. Being a good friend of my dad, my dad hands him the keys to his (new to him) 911 and says for me to hop in the passenger while he stays back at his buddy's house.

The only thing I remember was holding on for dear life as he flings the 911 up part of the Blue Ridge mountains on some back country road at an incredible rate of speed. We zoom up and then head back down to his house. When we get back, my dad just chuckles as the car ticks itself cool.
