racing seats, FIA or not?

I wouldn't use any seat with a back brace if it was not designed for that. BMWCCA Club Racing indeed requires outdated FIA seats to have a back brace. But it has concerned many drivers, and I am not even sure the rule still applies.

I wasn't aware of this... Got any links to further discussions on the topic?

I'm using an I/O Port back brace with my FX-1... I thought I was doing myself a favor by purchasing it....

So if I'm just doing HPDE's and autox, I don't have to worry about FIA, correct? Good to know as it opens my options up a bit.

The FX-1 WAS FIA approved so it is a good strong seat, they are renewing the cert right now, should be done by may. I personally haven't heard anything negative about a properly mounted seat back brace, other than extra weight that is.
