FPR started off as a VAC kit athough it was used and the lines did not seem to fit well so a few dollars later I was able to figure it out with more braided line some shadowline fittings and such....I had to make a custom bracket hold the coolant resevoir as well as the FPR

I had reinforcement plates from Turner welded onto the rear control arms where the sway bar mounts....They are a different design to others I have seen available so it maybe difficult to see them

I was told on this forum to purchase a filter for an E30 M3 and they said the MAHLE part # was OC 25.....But when they arrived they were the OC 84 so I just assumed it was a part succession....FWIW the OC 49 will not fit with the oil cooler block flipped as it interferes with the crank sensorLookin GOOD. Attention to detail FTW.
I notice you are running an OC84 filter, rather than the OC49. Any reason other than it's shorter?
Those collectors look big. What pipe size?
When are you gonna start it?
Agree with others in that rear sway link attachment on the trailing arms need reinforcement, especially with that big bar. Did you add the body reinforcements?
You are going to have some fun with that one!
Primary pipe size is 1 3/8" and the duals under the car are 1 3/4" each
I would like to start it soon but I need to obtain all the gear for MS...I have the e36 TPS and the GM map sensor so far and I will probable get Ely to build me a set up in the factory Motronic box...
I may try and cobble the MAF sensor on there just to see if it will run..but with 11:1 compression I am sure I will need the spark advance controll of the MS
Do you know if an M20 will get oil pressure by just cranking it with the plugs out?...I do not like doing this as I like to get pressure quickly?
I am sure it will be fun to drive....It will be sooo different than the 500 hp evos we normally build:mrgreen:

What body reinforcements are you refering to?
I plated the front cross member at the engine mounts with a kit from Turner
I also have F&R aluminum strut braces from Mason and it has a full cage
Did I miss something?

e30 racecar
it looks good to me, cage looks fine, although someone critized non continous tube load paths, in a perfect world everthing would be perfect ,trying to separate the pepper from fly poop is nearly impossible just USE it looks good enough, next car you build obtain a nascar cup cage rule book as those guys develop excellent rigid chassis, find a computer twit to display car on the screen and twist/deflect using a finite development program to define areas of instability and flex movement,or bolt car to floor and twist one end with 10 ft. beam whilst your pals observe chassis under load
DO TACK weld the front lower cross beam to chassis -as it moves under loading,on real racecars the suspension beams are welded in F&R
if needed = use a death wheel to sever welds for beam R&R or
use one of my lower front X braces to triangulate lower front
car looks germ free and very correct

whoops..sorry I was not there, we were working late on a STi Thursday evening so I was a bit late getting in....
I will, however, be there the entire weekend 9-6 Saturday and 9-6 Sunday...we have 2 Evos and 3 Subarus to tune so busy busy.
Come on by if you can I would like to see your car....

Makes sense for the long filter....the OC 49 will not fit with the oil cooler block flipped as it interferes with the crank sensor

I guess the picture angle just made the collector look huge
MS in a Motronic box...classic sleeper goodness!
I tried hard to figure out a way to prime my motor before startup, and came up basically empty handed. As you know, the pump is driven by the jackshaft. It would be great to just spin that baby with a drill, but that means you can't have the timing belt attached. It also means you're likely to make a large puddle of oil without the oil cooler lines attached (yes, even with the oil t-stat "closed"). So, Technician A says do it with the motor out and make a puddle, and Technician B says do it with the motor in, and put the timing belt on in the car after making an access hole of sorts in front of the jackshaft. The correct answer may be C, where you leave the timing belt off and find a right-angle drill. But I don't have one of those. I also considered using a very long 5mm hex shaft to spin the pump directly, but when I figured out that the pump drive had to be installed before the pump, that kinda didn't make sense anymore. So yeah, you're just gonna have to spin it with no plugs. I hated to do it too, but lots of prelube and moly made me not so worried.
The body reinforcements I was referring to are the Turner rear sway bar braces. Apparently, big rear bars tend to rip out the bar bushing mounting area under the trunk. Other than that, the big ones are trailing arm end links (check) and motor mount pads top and bottom (check). Did you also do the M3-style front bar end links?sigpic

I love seeing all the new parts going into a E30... I did the same suspension setup on mine and it is very track worthy.. Almost the same engine setup but I snuck an Eaton M90 blower into the mix.. Mine is mostly street and I do DEs when ever I can...
I have one of Ely,s MS in the stock ECU case as well..
Would love to get by the shop and get a closer look.. is that possible ??
Steve
Edit; I need to do some dyno tuning also...Last edited by tn325i; 03-07-2009, 04:34 PM.sigpicComment

I would like to see your car with the blower on...and I am sure we can work out something on the dyno time...(although not tomorrow:crazy: busy)
