Very interesting. I'm tempted to wait, but with the RS2s so cheap and actually availiable in a good size, I may jump for the 2s anyway.

does the dunlop z1 not come in a good size at all? as it would run circles around both.Comment

as do i. i think ill be happy with the khumo XS in 205/55/15. what i really hate about 17" is the weight and cost. i think one of the e30's strengths is it's lightweight at each wheel. the suspension is incredibly simple, the knuckles are tiny and the brakes are just right. with small wheels and tires, you get something very special. nothing like my old subaru that required one hell of a strong arm to lift a front/rear corner.90 E30 325iComment

that's why I really like those BBS replica wheels that PaintPro21 is working on. $250 per wheel and about the same weight as the stock 15" wheels. Plus they look nice. :)Comment

The $ you'll spend on 17" you can put towards staying in 15" size with Dot-R rubber instead ;)Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

I have DOT-R rubber on 15" already. but I don't really feel like daily driving tires that will last 5000 miles on the street.Comment

Yeah, agree, I wasn't thinking about a DD type of tire. Carry onMtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

and it would be wrong to assume that there wouldn't be worth while performance advantages of a 17" light weight wheel/tire combo over a 15" setup when used on the track.
every e30 m3 around here runs around on ground-controls, half of them are on 15" wheels and r-comps. wow it feels like they're back on a near stock suspension when it comes to body role vs the 17" setups. thankfully I've never experienced true bone stockComment

It would be nice though...but I agree, tire is a big part of suspension. I remember when I went from 16 to 17 to 18 sizes on my previous car and it was very noticable..
I see an r32 chasing you, and raise you my old r32 in best color (black) lol

ha, looks like turn 10.
my photo is actually from my first track day on one of the recon laps (not even at speed no passing), so I had to buy them since they were all so well done. all the got blue milk photos are blurry and washed out in comparison (but then again infineon is more photogenic). So i pretty much only have pics from my first day, and the car looks different now lol
I'm addicted to the sound of r32's fyi
and to stay on topic, yeah rubber on the road is what it's all about, every other part on the car is just a tool to help the tires do a better job.Comment

I will be moving up to 16s or 17s when I have the money to buy good rims. Right now I'd end up with some crap that I'd just sell again to get what I really want.Comment
