Have you thought about putting a horizontal bar under the door cross bars?

I have seen a few e30s with that. But I don't think it is really required. Rockers are stronger than a piece of 1.75" DOM. And also in the case of my 2002, I have spliced the A and B tubes at the base, so basically they only portrude 0.9" beyond the face of the rockers (including the 3mm mounting plates). Overtime, I may gusset the door Xs and do a few improvement here and there. But I think I maxed out what I could do to a 1969 shell.

Not much progress. Just too busy with "work". As the weather is nice outside, I painted the rollcage in dull silver, with the help of my son. A second coat will go on in a few days. The job was approved by Bonnie, the quality inspection hottie.

That's because I have 5 or 6 different Michelin Men and that Michelin tires have some history that Toyo doesn't have.
