Avatars / Sig Pics that are NWS

I think Avatars and Sigs are a VERY important part of a forum. Are they going to be turned off by default, until you turn them on?

How about potential members? They will be shyed away by inappropriate sigs and avatars. What image is R3V trying to portray? I would hate to see real knowledge head for E30tech or even worse, BFC.

My vote is to have a rule. I mean, if you want to see boobs, go to off topic and look for the NWS tab.

I agree with Funkmasta. I know I'm a n00b to R3V but I've been forum surfing for years and years (I'm 35, FWIW.) I'm sure my opinion doesn't carry much weight, but I still feel like sharing it.

Twice now I've had to hurridly close the browser I was surfing in because of the Avatars and .sigs that people use showing up in a thread I was viewing. My wife wouldn't understand that I was reading about how to remove a CAB and wouldn't believe me when there's a pair of tits staring her in the face. Every other forum I am a member of has tighter reins on what is considered NWS and what isn't, and I wish those same policies were implemented here, even if it is unofficially and self-policed.

He, he. It is true that sometimes, some avatars can be misleading on what type of website it is. I often bring my laptop in the bed and it does happen that I have to explain my sweet half why there are some bouncing tits on the left hand of the screen while I am typing some technical info... And that can also make the whole forum not "Office-friendly" just because of a few tits that cannot be filtered by the mention of "NWS".

I understand that the e30 crowd is usally under 30, if not under 25, and that the rush of male hormones is very hard to fight, but I would not show my dick or my GF's boobies in a public meeting just because I feel like it. and a forum is indeed a public place.

I don't think there should be a ban, but perhaps only giving it a few thoughts. :pimp:

I didn't know there was that many people with them. As far as avatars, I had a set of tata's, that Vedubin or whatever guy has some DD's, and there's someone else with an ass that swings around. I haven't seen anybody with a girl in their sig. That little 100x100 pic is damn hard to see from more then 12" from the screen. Oh well, when I have kids, I'll understand :)

Exactly - Tim hit it dead on the head. There are you, reading peacefully w/ a Coke and a smile about how to swap your new offset CAB's onto your old Eta, while day-dreaming about the go-kart handling you're about to achieve, and next thing you know, your wife's standing over your shoulder asking why you've got some chick squeezing her tits on your screen...

Of course, I like tits on my screen, or anywhere else. But it's hard to explain to the wifey... :D

Anyway - I'm not looking to be a Nazi about it, but I was raising the issue because a lot of the avatars + sigs are raunchy --- I really do like having the avatars + sigs on the forum, it's all good fun and it gives the place some character. I am just looking for some help on the NWS side of things.

And, I do have to say that the response here has been much better than I thought it would be --- I did expect a lot of ranting about why it's ridiculous to suggest some sort of self-censorship.

Usually, wives or gay companions (I must include Blunt in the context ) understand the situation after a few seconds and will recognize your "innocence". I would be more worried when it is a younger kid (boy or girl) not understanding it, and then claiming that dad is watching dirty girls on the internet :pimp:. That must pretty much fuck-up Sunday's brunch with the in-laws when kiddo starts telling dad's watching titties on the net... while you're trying to explain you were only reading about CABs...
