Was really holding out hope for Lenos law to pass, but it seems like that is long dead now. Is anyone here -- allegedly of course -- on MT reg in CA on their E30? Its pretty damn expensive but never dealing with another smog check sounds great especially with how hard it is to come by a 'hot' one these days. TIA

I know a guy… he said there was some paperwork to get the plates initially, but it’s pretty easy. He hasn’t had any trouble as far as I know.
Personally I run CA historic plates. Slightly cheaper registration. Still requires smog though. and you’re not supposed to run it as your daily driver (I don’t). But I’ve never had any issue.1989 325is ✨ -
I did it. Had an e30 with a swap more of a track car but street able. The Local authorities know when a MT plate is on a car. They still pull you over. You do not get impounded, but you get a ticket, and it requires you to prove your out of state (MT) temporally or have a CHP inspection. Best to get a shop help you smog it.Comment

If you live next to none smog country or an Indian reservation. You can register your car there. That’s why I don’t worry about smog every two years.Projects Hartge,Alpina & AC Schnitzer Builds.http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=280601
