That drive will suck big time! The 101S and 405S will both be bad in the morning. If you take the 101 close enough to Beverly Hills you will run into the horrid traffic heading into downtown LA. The 405S will be just as bad if not worse, because you will be dealing with the traffic heading to Santa Monica, Westwood, Beverly Hills, Century City, the South Bay, etc. :shock:

In the morning I would allow for 1-1.5 hours to make the commute, as traffic is so unpredictable in LA. However, I can almost guarantee that it will take +/- 1 hour. And be prepared for a whole new breed of drivers, LA drivers are a huge cluster fuck when it comes to driving in traffic! :hitler:

You really chose one of the worst possible commutes to have. It will be just as bad or even worse heading back North after work.

I wish you the best of luck, but I'd say look into a place in Culver City, Mar Vista, West LA, Brentwood, Westwood, Hollywood, Santa Monica, or even Downtown to make the commute a little easier on yourself.

The drive will be no fun unless you leave for work extra early, and wait to come home extra late. Unless you enjoy traffic...

Oh god, wtf. That is really far. Check Westwood, cheap student housing. I'm looking for apartments there at the moment... We have four people already, but I'll keep an eye out if you want.

It hasn't gotten much worse, but not really any better. It took me 50 minutes every morning to get from Westchester to UCLA and that was at 10 am. The 405 wasn't even an option when I had 8 am class.

Oh jesus. I have a friend that did that for a long time. He now has grey hairs and hes my age. 28. jk. He used to take Benedict Canyon or Laurel Canyon into Hollywood/Beverly Hills. You might wanna try that.

If you go past the 405 to Laurel Cyn, you may be able to get away from some traffic, but it will be backed up as well due to the merge with the 5 freeway. It will really be trial and error for you to see which route will be the fastest, and what time you should leave by. :(

The only problem with taking Laurel Cyn, is you will run into morning traffic in the streets, which means you will get stuck at a lot of stop lights.

Not trying to scare you away, but more to forewarn you about what you're getting into. ;)
