morning SGC, anyone on here get a front window tint ticket in the past and had to go to an inspection station? Did those guys check your VIN when they confirmed you removed it?

      cheers

Bee-rent, from what I recall on my last "inspection" ticket, the officer just came out to see that I corrected the violation (no front plate) and signed off on it. Of course, that was several years ago and the state wasn't nearly in the shithole amount of debt that it is now.

So, yeah, I'd think they would check the VIN. However, that can also be changed rather painlessly.

If you've got a solid 'as-is' bos I don't really see what he can do. Try taking it to the dmv/AAA?

This is why you finalize a deal on the spot, no waiting for a title in the mail bullshit.

Did he sign a bill of sale or the title "pink slip"? What did you give him?

                          Never mind.

1.085 Bills of Sale (CVC ยง1652)

A bill of sale, as referenced in this handbook, generally refers to the departmental Bill of Sale (REG 135 or REG 262), but any bill of sale that identifies the vehicle or vessel and accurately establishes the chain of ownership is acceptable.
                            • It must be signed by the buyer, but it is not required to be notarized or witnessed.
                            • A bill of sale is not required for sales between California-licensed dealers oron dealer sales to a retail purchaser if the title is properly endorsed.

NOTE: A properly completed bill of sale may be accepted in lieu of the registered owner's release signature on the title or Application for Duplicate Title (REG 227) and on multiple transfers, when an in-between owner's signature does not appear on the title (the printed name must appear on the title).

we both signed the bill of sale and printed our names. it clearly says we are trading for each others car in "as is" condition. when we met up he said he was going to send the title since he could not find it, not he is complaining about the car and wants it back. i technically dont have to give him back the car but he is giving me quite the guilt trip about how he has two kids, no time to fix etc..

Entirely up to you, but, it looks like you should be ok to transfer title with the bill of sale.
