thank you MR 325. exactly what i wanted to hear :)

From my measurements, it would seem that the bilstein ix shocks are 13 inches long and the stock e30 ones are 17. So the ix shocks are 4 inches shorter? yet, everywhere else online says there only 3 inches shorter. cutting my tubes and this is critical info

    any insight?

it's not very cheap...but lucky for you the cars on there are usually priced higher.

interesting. glad someone could bring a little little light to that. either way, i'm definitely not complaining!

mr2? it's funny, none of the car guys here give a rat's ass about being slammed. fat wheel and tire size seems to be the most important thing. too many good roads (and autobahn) to care about that stuff.

never really answered the question. i was not talking about MR2's i was talking about bilstein ix HD's. im trying to get accurate measurements.

hypothetically. if everything else remained the same suspension wise/ wheels tire size and you sectioned the strut- lets say 1 inch. would that bring the whole car a inch lower?

spring attaches to the strut, so smaller strut means spring sits lower and that means the whole car gets lower. correct?

i know you weren't, but it seems to be the more popular route these days when sectioning struts. it seems that people generally section for one of two reasons:

          A) maintain same height with more shock travel
          B) shawn

i think IX bilsteins will be the less practical/more expensive route in the end when compared to other options.

Did you order the new center consoles too? They changed the material so the color and texture won't match the original pieces.

Yes, I had to buy the one for the E-brake/shifter, when I bought the car, if that is what you mean. I was told that the one that holds the heater control, OBC etc. is still original stock so that one worries me a little. I did not get a glove box either. If they are too far off then I will get the other pieces when I get some more money in the kitty. But I hope it will match good enough for me. ha ha

Updates: The head is off everything is getting cleaned up, and as for that rotor just as we got the bolt loose the whole thing decided to break anyways but we got a new rotor for the cap that came with screws. Now all that I need to do is clean the bay up some more, the pistons and get some new head studs for the exhaust on the new head. shouldn't be too bad so long as bma/wall mart/anywhere else is open tomorrow for my needs
