    So i know this sounds crazy...but is there a reason my Tach only works in the deep valley...say north of Vanowen?

                                            That's because your speedo and/or the pick up is bad. SI board is only associated with coolant temp gauge and tachometer. Try reflowing the solder on the speedo.

                                                        What about the gas gauge? I heard that was Si board related and mine still doesn't work. 2 clusters and 1 new si board and all the same problems.

                                                            That might be the sensor on the tank, I had to replace one on a friends awhile back and it solved the issue
