I had the same idea in mind. The BMW software and TIS take up over 30 gigs and I don't want to clog up my new ultrabook. I think I might use the hello kitty laptop and just give my daughter my netbook.
I have been using Sony electronics for a few years now and find it to be quality stuff. How do you like their laptop? Do you find TIS to be a good software? I have all the ETK's, Bentley, Kola and Shop Manuals on the laptop but I am always looking for additional good reference material.
I started using PC's when the only software operating system was DOS. I wrote some routines in DOS and then Window's came out which was a great upgrade to the DOS operating system. Since then I have been using Windows for work and play. All my family has been on me for the last few years to make the transition to the Apple operating system but I have resisted. Now that I can have duel operating systems on the Mac I will partition a portion of the hard drive to the Windows operating system so I can see how AutoCAD works on it. Even though they make a version for Apple I have read that it is still not as good as the Windows version. I feel that it is important to keep up with all the new technology or else I will not be as productive in the work place. I also picked up a DSLR camera so I want to learn Photoshop and I think that the Apple has been better for this type of work since their conception.
I am not a Windows hater I just enjoying learning about new things. I got a little carried away with the troll last night who does not look beyond what he thinks is best for everyone with no knowledge of the big picture. Sorry to bog down the thread with stuff that is not BMW related.
Today I am finishing off what I like to call my "Matt" garage and hope to finally get the other garage ready for the M3 so I can start back on finishing the Mtech over the winter. Here's to another Southern California winter weather day.

What version of AutoCad are you using Jim? I'm using the brand new 2013 one for my Drafting class. Cool thing is you can get the student version of the software for free now. No more torrents. :D

Alpine is actually in my top 3 of san diego brewers. Been going there since it was just the tiny tasting room.
Never said it won't work. There is one pic that i know of on how to do it. I'm just going to do it better, easier, and 100% reversible. Looks like someone bought the $50 setup.

Its actually a toshiba satellite that i took apart, upgraded, and painted in a hello kitty theme. I use my Acer S3 to run my matlab and solidworks professional. The I5 processor is pretty darn fast, even when running stress simulations.
