You can find 2 or 3 e36 M3s for the price of one e30 right now.

well, maybe for a beat up one, yeah. or perhaps you got super lucky like me and the kid needed to put money down for a down payment. otherwise, you are absolutely wrong. most go between $6k for a good solid one and $8k-$10k+.

E39s are cool, but more expensive to maintain.

meh, if you get one that's been treated like shit and hasn't gotten maintenance, sure. but you can say the same for any other car. how's your maintenance/fixing going? bet you've got lots left to do huh?

Make sure the door cards don't fall off. Fixing that problem on mine right now. lol

this only happened to my car because i put my weight on the passenger door card getting out of the car, otherwise, never an issue here.

On another note, the Mtech is getting closer to being put up for sale. I am considering rebuilding the Fuel Injectors. Who have you guys used and were happy with the price and product?

Just bought this last night. Sunroof doesn't work,but whats new with that not working on these. That's the only issue,otherwise its clean as hell with maintance records. It's for my 17 year old daughter for a first car. Im really surprised there are still clean early e36's out there.

M42 problem

Had the head rebuilt:

New headgasket + all pertaining seals
Timing cover
New chain tensioner
New battery
Changed the alt. with a known working one

After getting the head work done, the car fails to hold charge for longer than 3 hours at a time.
This leads me to believe that it was never a battery or alt issue.

Before any of the work was done, there was no problems with the car turning on. Can anybody point me in the direction of the solution, please. I've been on vacation this week and spent 2 fucking days trying to figure it out, as it is one of my brother's DD car.

I would look at all grounds and power leads. I had a simular problem with my old m42 318is and ended up sell it because of it.:( But the car was a bastard child from hell from the get go so that didn't help.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to look into that but, maybe I will just have to drive to your shop, to see if you can think/find anything else.

I had lots of issue's with the wiring harness for the alternator. Check all the wiring connectors and grounds with that ed. Also pull out and check the voltage regulator on the back of the alternator too.
