Sup. So my work keeps trying to get me to come in at 6:30 am every morning to clean the bays, meaning I'd have to wake up at 5:30. f that.Comment

Anyways, one of the bosses was talking to me about possibly becoming a Tech and working up to a Service Adviser. I just don't see myself getting stuck in a blue collar job. No offence to any of you guys that wrench for a living. I mean I enjoy working on cars as a hobby when it's my car or a friends car. I just wouldn't want to do that every single day. Besides, those positions are flat rate jobs. If I had a choice in the matter I'd rather just go back to Parts or do something in IT. Most of the computers at work are ancient and they've been slowly upgrading the systems. Also... there are plenty of ways for them to increase efficiency with IT, but corporate or who's ever in charge of that stuff has elected not to do it so far.Last edited by turge; 04-02-2014, 10:48 PM.Comment

I don't mind cleaning. The problem is they've bumped me around jobs and the times they want me to come into work. I originally started in parts but got transferred to service due to another employee having seniority and wanting my job. Pretty lame if you ask me, but w/e that's corporations for you. Anyways... at that point they asked me to come in at 5:30 every morning in which I respectfully declined. I reasoned with them and I have been coming in at 7am every morning. I'm not really a morning person so waking up at 6 is about the earliest I can do most days besides special occasions of course. Anyways, if I agree to coming in at 6:30, they're just going to try to bump me down to 5:30 after a few weeks of coming in at 6:30. It seems to be a pattern.

you also need to understand that those wrenching at a dealer make good money. it may be a flat rate, but let's say an oil change costs $70 flat rate (i have no idea what a dealer charges), and takes about an hour, you can theoretically get 4 or so done as long as there are open bays and/or you are quick enough. so $70 times 4 = $280 for an hour's worth of work. theoretically speaking. at least that's how my friend who used to work for a ford dealer explained it to me.

I work 4 10 hour shifts from 6:30 PM until 5:00 AM. Granted, I also probably make more money than Spencer, but I'd do it for minimum wage because I too like money and steady work isn't exactly easy to come by. Worse in California.

When there is real life responsabilities, you gotta man up and wake up at 3:30am to be at work by 4:30.
My job pays well and, the more I hustle the more I make, so why not wake up at 3:30?, most days i'm done by 1 with the physical work. Oh I forgot, I only work 4 days a week too. ;)
One day, you will learn that the world doesn't revolve around you. Hopefully you get to sit plush with a good paying job doing IT work, like you desire and go to school for., I feel like you're too young and dumb to understand that now. Good luck Turgenator.@IRON-E30 aka Edwin:DComment
