                Hey guys I'm pretty bummed about something that just happened. I ordered a key from bmw last week and it just came in, as I was walking to the car the key looked different from my current crappy brass copy but I figured mine was just really worn. Well I go to my trunk and guess what, it doesn't work. Looks like my locks were switched out at some point. What can I do? Can you "return" something like this? Or do I just have to take the $80 hit?

                            Same happened to me I just went back and asked for a new one. The 2nd one worked perfect. Sometimes they miss cut I guess

                                I'll go back and ask, it's worth a try I suppose. But if it doesn't what do you guys suggest? Locksmith for a new key or new lock set? How hard is a swap?

                                        why the need for a new ignition tumbler? pretty sure locksmiths can swap out the pins to match the new key. my experience was with an e34 trunk tumbler so i might be wrong about the ignition.
