As far as flocking and suede/alcantara are concerned, I'm afraid they'd get too dirty/dusty over time. Plus they don't look OEM at all. The plastidip has made the dash look and feel like the new dashes you get from BMW which have a rubberized texture. I wouldn't be surprised if they use a similar product in South Africa (where the new stuff is made).

    New OE BMW dash...

ive flocked a few s13 dashboards before for friends. Honestly I never really liked it. The texture and the process.

The process is the part I really dont want to deal with and prior to this genius idea of using plastidip. Ive been thinking about it since it was mentioned and now that I see it in reality, I highly doubt Im still going to flock. Plastidip is so much easier than flocking

                              Just did the dash yesterday...

Dash is filled using the Urethane padded dash filler. This stuff is great! My only complaint is that it hardens way too fast so only mix small amounts at a time and only do one long crack or a couple of small ones at a time.

This is after the 2nd coat and on the 2nd day. I sprayed on another coat to even things out a bit. I will take another pic after the final coat dries completely tomorrrow.
I should have spent a little more time on prepping the storage tray area...I know but I got lazy and my main concern were the cracks which are all filled and covered up. As expected, the Plastidip still shows the factory grain while giving it the rubberized look of the new dashes! This is what I was hoping for. Sorry about the shadows. If it looks good outside of the car, I'm sure it will look great inside. This is my first time working with filler, sanding, etc. I have thrown away dashes in better condition than this one. This is something I wanted to try out since I had nothing to lose but cost of material and a few hours. A dash with fewer cracks would have much better results.

It's going to snow tomorrow. I'm keeping the e30 under cover till April now at this point but i did manage to get the Ducati out last weekend.
