its almost that time of year for our annual meet at the beach

I magically assumed responsibility for the Dockweiler meet last year. Guess I'll do it again.

We could go for the first Saturday of the year because it would be cool to start the new year with a good meet. I like that idea. Very original. Plus there's no December Van Nuys meet. Okay so Jan 7th it is. Objections?


I need new tires for my 14's. The best that Tirerack offers is General Altimax, it had good reviews. Is $60 a pop plus shipping worth it? Also does anyone have a spare basketweave they just want to get rid of? My 4 wheels are fine but I lent my spare to someone and never got it back.

Oh! Who here knows about old Mercs? I'm looking for the motor from a 1977-1983 240D. It's an I4 diesel. Doesn't have to be running. If anyone knows of a parts car that I can pull the engine from, that'd be great.

Can someone recommend a fluid for an LSD differential? I just want to buy and turn a blind eye to it instead of reading all the arguments online for which one is supreme. E30, of course. Medium case if that matters.

I'd just go to your local auto parts store and buy some plain ole' Castrol 80w90.

in other news I endured stupid traffic to go buy $20 15mm spacers for my daily driver and spent another $20 on some extended lugs from ebay to go with them. why am I modifying my daily driver?...

and now I just found a 12mm set for the front haha.... dammit Simon! Im going to want to lower this car soon because of this I know it. The poopy thing is that I can get different pads to lower the rear but the front Im kind of SOL. If there was only a E90 drop hat type of mod for the front I would be golden because I dont want to put aftermarket suspension on the car

Why not just put in springs? They're relatively cheap and not too hard to install. I know springs qualify as 'aftermarket' suspension...

I already have sport suspension on my car, I really dont want to make it any stiffer than it already is.
