        Running out of gas certainly doesn't help, haha. Can clog the fuel filter or burn the pump out from running dry. Sounds like you didn't burn it out, though.

          not sure what the issue was but i checked all wires and replaced my old and broken distributor cap and now it cranks right over within 3 seconds. thanks to garrett for coming out and helping me diagnose this bitch.

                yeahh, but it ran fine and didnt have an issue for over a week. so idk, and it only happened once because i thought i could make it to the next station where it was cheaper. lol

                      Haha. Well, fuel and spark are the things to test, as mentioned above. Looks like you had one source of weak spark so there may be others. Did you check and/or change the ignition rotor when you replaced the distributor cap?

                            yeahh, ive got garretts spark tester, so if this happens again, ill check for spark. i did not replace rotor, i need to order a new one though.
