MB quatz has gone down hill over the last few years. According to luke its because their cross overs are garbage. I had a set of q series which were suppose to be the top of the line hooked up to some expensive hardware and i was not impressed. Luke says the jbl's blow the MB out of the water. But i can get lots of nice component systems for $100 or less like infinity, kicker, kenwood, etc.

I don't think anything can take the place a of a properly sized woofers added to a system. There is a reason every surround sound system and even newer cars come with a separate woofer. Its not necessarily for a booming system as much as it is for a rich full sound. That's why i use entry level 12" subs. Small, light weight, cheap, and not boomy.
