Confirmed it doesnt work with USB->Serial. Time to find a laptop with a serial port :(

a sabrent one. uses the PL2303 chipset. I know it will work in OBD mode, but ADS only works with a real serial port :(

according to rv8flyboy nobody has ever gotten ADS working over usb to serial :(

You know if it's been bled? I don't know if the valve is a check valve that lets coolant go only one way. If it isn't, you should get heat. I've never messed with an E30 one, but heater valves are supposed to fail open so you don't freeze to death, lol. Maybe disconnect any electrical connections to it and see if that works.

Google the rear window defogger fix. You can get a kit at an auto store that you use to paint the broken connections back.

i bled the system twice since ive had the car.
so im pretty sure thats not an issue. and one hose is hot but not the other. so idkkk. im pretty sure its the valve.

as for the rear window defogger, im pretty sure id need a whole new rear window but ive got like $100+ on that rear window in stickers. so i dont really wanna replace it. i mean insurance would pay for it if it somehow got "broken into". haha

Yeah, that sounds like coolant is not flowing. It's worth trying to swap the hoses.

yeah im going to swap the hoses to see if it makes a difference. wouldnt hurt.
as long as i can get some heat, id be happy.

haha, yeahhhh i really dont want to! only 3 lines work, but its at the bottom of the window so it doesnt help at all! it really sucks. so unsafe at night.
